Aki Foods was incubated by our sister social enterprise, Aki Energy, in 2015 to manage their growing food projects. Since then, Aki Foods has been working to implement and support multiple initiatives including pop-up food markets, small-scale community farming, youth programming, cafeterias, and more.
That every Indigenous person is capable of feeding themselves, their families, and are active participants in the economy.
We have a decade of experience operating in Manitoba. Our team, primarily comprised of dedicated Indigenous staff, possess the cultural knowledge and expertise necessary to navigate the complexities of working with Indigenous communities. We provide comprehensive support, including project planning, management, resource attainment, staff support, and programming, to ensure the smooth and effective operation of food-based initiatives. We are proud to have cultivated strong relationships and delivered impactful results and we are committed to continuing our work of fostering sustainable food systems and community development.
